Leave a Legacy

Ways to Make a Planned Gift.

Making a planned gift is easy. Planned gifts can take many forms including cash, stocks, bonds, or other property. People who make charitable gifts through their estate plans may find that they are able to commit to larger gifts than they thought possible. And there are often tax advantages that benefit the donor, the estate, and the beneficiaries.

Giving Through Your IRA

If you are age 70.5 and older, a special provision exists which allows you to make a charitable gift directly from your Individual Retirement Account (IRA). One of the key benefits of a direct IRA contribution from your IRA is that the distribution counts towards your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD). Two of the benefits to giving directly from your IRA include:

  • No increase your adjusted gross income which could possibly subject your Social Security to a higher level of taxation

  • You will see the impact your gift can make during your lifetime

Bequests

Bequests can be a percentage of the remainder of your estate or a specific dollar amount. You can also make your bequest contingent upon the death of your spouse or other beneficiary. Sample language for making a bequest: “I give, devise, and bequeath to the Altrusa Hospitality House, a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization located at 1116 East Mason Street, Green Bay WI 54301 EIN 39-1593989, or its successor-in-interest, (insert dollar amount or percentage) for its unrestricted use and purposes.”

Life Insurance Policies

Name the Altrusa Hospitality House as a beneficiary of a new or existing life insurance policy by completing a beneficiary designation form provided by your insurer.

Become a Life Legacy Member

Donors who notify us that they have made planned gifts will be recognized — during their lifetimes — as members of our prestigious Legacy Society. Members will be recognized in the annual newsletter and on our website. While gifts of all amounts are appreciated, donors who have made planned gifts of $10,000 or more will also be recognized on a new Legacy Society Wall in the Altrusa Hospitality House living room.

To discuss making a planned gift to Altrusa Hospitality House, or if you have already named us in your will, please email annie.bongiorno@altrusahousegreenbay.org or call 920-884-6678.

As with any tax-deductible gift, you should consult with your tax advisor to determine the degree to which your gift may result in tax advantages to you, your estate, and your beneficiaries.
